Appearance
Hades was represented as stern, dark man with tightly closed lips, a crown on his head and a key in his had. The key was to show how carefully he guards those who enter his underworld. He would sit on a throne of ebony with his sceptre and his three-headed dog Cerberus. Like his brother Zeus he is represented with a vigorous beard. He owns a helmet given to him by Cyclopes which can make him invisible.
History
Hades is the God of the ancient Greek underworld. Another name for Hades is Pluto because people did not like to pronounce the dreaded name of Hades. His parents Rhea and Cronus gave birth to him on the island of Crete and he is the oldest male of his family. He and his brothers claimed rulership over the Cosmos, ruling the underworlds air and sea. His strength was he was rich with wealth of the earth, especially precious metals. Adventures
Hades desired a bride and asked his brother Zeus give him one of his daughters. Zeus declined but offered him Persephone, the daughter of sister, Demeter. Hades abducted Persephone while she was playing. He tried to win her affection but eventually tricked her into staying by offering her tempting pomegranate to eat. Dementer was furious when she found out and caused great death upon the earth until her daughter was returned. Zues did return her however since she ate the pomegranate she was forced to come back to the underworld for a portion of the year.
Relationships
Hades was the son of Cronus and Rhea. He had two brothers, Zues, Poseidon and three sisters, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter. His wife was Persephone and they stayed faithful even though she was tricked into marriage.
Symbols
Hades is associated with a number of symbols that represent him, such as, two pronged scepter, crown, gold chariot with tour black horses, horn of plenty, black animals, helmet of invisibility, key to the underworld, jewels and metals.

Evolution
Through the years Hades has grown from the ancient Greek myth and has been represented as a strong, evil and mystical character for movies books and even games. In Clash Of The Titans Hades appears in the form of a flock of Harpies and massacres the soldiers. In the Disney movie Hercules, Hades seeks to overthrow Zeus and rule Mount Olympus, the Earth and the rest of creation for himself.
