Native American motifs

The Washington Redskins logo has a simple and clean feel. There is contrast of the brown face standing out of the yellow circle that frames it. The feathers are outlined with a heavy black line that distracts from the focus of the face. The logo doesn’t have much balance due to the heavy feather on the left. The colours are too dark on the face and allow the yellow to stand out in comparison.
Their logo is the face of a Native American chief facing the right. The chief's head is placed within a yellow circle that has some yellow feathers. The yellow comes from the team colors of burgundy and gold.
The feather is used as a motif to represent Native American Indians and their culture. In this case the feather is used twice. Most people today when thinking of Native American Indians would picture feathers used in their native dress. Over time the Washington Redskins logo hasn’t changed dramatically although they did add the Indian in the last two designs.
Overall I think this logo isn’t very appealing and doesn’t do justice to the Native American Indians. The design does reach its intention is to relate to the Native Indians reconisable look although it needs work to improve the overall appearance. Changing the colours the graphics position would improve the logo.
